Sanrock RC mini drone test, range, flight time

0

If you want to get your kids excited about quadrocopters and are still looking for a suitable beginner drone, the Sanrock mini drone is a model you should take a closer look at.

The drone has many important safety features, flies stable in the air and is still quite fast, agile and manoeuvrable.

Technical data

Although the Sanrock produces a somewhat louder noise level than other mini drones because the engines are relatively differently constructed, it is otherwise technically very well equipped. In comparison its price is also a real joke!

Size, design and weight

It is a really small model, the dimensions are: 8.9 cm x 7.9 cm x 3.2 cm. It looks a bit unathletic and heavy, but that is not it at all.

Their design stands for safety and long life. The material is of very high quality and the rotors are quite hidden and therefore well protected. For children this means a lower risk of getting injured on the small quadrocopter.

Should a small object get into the rotor barrel, the rotor blades are quite resistant, they give way easily and do not break immediately. Collisions with objects such as a wall or home furnishings do not cause any damage due to the professionally installed rotor protection.

An LED light is installed above the fuselage, so the mini drone can be flown in the dark.

The Sanrock is available in different colours, we have seen it in black/blue and black/red.

Camera, memory and FPV live image transmission

This drone model unfortunately has no FPV mode, although we would have wished for it, it also has no camera, which is to be expected in this price segment (30-50 €).

Either the quadrocopters which are sold so cheaply have a grotty camera or none at all, so our disappointment was not too big.

Battery, range and flight time

On the remote control there are some buttons for different flight modes which we will discuss later. It has a transmitting power that allows you to reach a maximum range of about 50 meters, but this depends on the charge level of the transmitter and whether there are any objects between the Sanrock and the remote control.

Because the drone is so cheap, 7 minutes flight time is normal and perfectly fine. Also the loading time is limited compared to other models in this price range and is between 45 and 60 minutes.

The battery can be replaced, so you can extend the flight time as you wish and with 4 extra batteries you can even fly for over half an hour. Additional flight batteries are not expensive and cost only a few Euros.

Backside

Underneath there is a safety lock of the battery so that it does not fly out.

Flight Stabilization

Thanks to the altitude barometer and a gyroscope system, the quadrocopter flies stable in the air fully automatically, even if you release the controls.

This is ideal for beginners, because it allows you to slowly approach a safe feeling of flying.

Flight modes

Really cool on this model is the headless mode and the possibility to control the drone in freemode.

If the drone is in the latter mode, supporting systems are completely switched off.

Headless means that you can control the drone regardless of its viewing direction.

Assuming the copter would stand with its head towards you and you push the control lever forward, the model would fly towards you. In headless mode it is different, here the drone flies away anyway, no matter how the head or the front is aligned.

Furthermore, the Sanrock can be started and landed at the push of a button. Difficult manoeuvres are not necessary for these operations, the drone does it all by itself.

Another function is the “One Key Return”, where the model flies back to you automatically.
