In today’s report we introduce the GDU O2 drone with a 4K camera and a 3-axis stabilization system.

This is a slightly more expensive quadrocopter model with several great features. The drone is very suitable for beginners and stands perfectly in the air without the pilot having to actively intervene.

A particularly unique feature of the drone is the ability to insert its arms. We have never seen such a feature on any other quadrocopter. Among other things, this possibility ensures a very high wearing comfort and portability.

Also integrated is the Binocular Obstacle Avoidance System, which helps the drone to detect objects in its path and then stop it in time.

Technical data and facts

The GDU O2 Wifi drone has many technical advantages. Among other things there is a GPS/GLONASS system, thanks to which the quadrocopter is particularly stable in the air.

Also the flight characteristics of the model are convincing. The maximum flight speed is 15 meters per second, the maximum ascent speed is 5 m/s and the drone is particularly agile. In combination with the safety systems, this makes the GDU O2 a good candidate for beginners, but advanced pilots will also have fun with the drone.

The motors have a lot of power, 1806/2080KV brushless motors are used here.

Recorded media can be stored via app and shared on various social networks.

Camera

A 4K camera with a FPV function is installed. It transmits the FPV image over a distance of up to 1 km. The lens has a focal length of F/2.2 and the FOV is about 79.8 degrees.

The cam also has a gimbal system, which works over 3 axes. Pitch (-90 to 30 degrees), roll (-30 to 30 degrees) and yaw (-30 to 30 degrees) are possible.

The photo sensor is a 1/3 inch CMOS with a pixel density of 13 MP. The photos are saved in JPG format and videos in MP4 format.

For videos you have the choice between the following resolution values, which you can easily select in the menu:

  • 4K: 3840 x 2160 at 30 frames per second
  • 1080P: 1920 x 1080 at 30 fps
  • 720P: 1280 x 720 pixels at 30 frames per second

The memory of the GDU O2 Wifi drone has 16 GB, where all recordings are saved.

Design

The design is somewhat similar to the DJI Mavic Pro, but differs in that the Mavic folds up easily and the arms of the GDU O2 are retractable.

In the front above the camera there is a small light blue LED, but this is more for a nicer look than for lighting.

There is a lock on the side that allows you to insert or remove the battery.

You definitely need a drone license plate for the GDU O2, because the weight is over 250 grams and is about 708 grams including the battery.

The dimensions here are 185.5 mm x 52 mm x 93 mm.

Battery and flight time of the drone

A battery with 1200 mAh charging capacity is used to power the drone for 15 minutes in the air, but you can extend the maximum flight time by removing the propeller protection. This will give you a maximum flight time of 20 minutes.

Flight Modes

The special feature of the GDU O2 Wifi drone is the many flight modes, which are a perfect way to use the model in many ways.

Among others there is the Vision Circle flight. Here you can use the camera preview to mark a destination with the cursor. Once the target is logged in, the drone’s visual system keeps the focus on the object. And maintains altitude, distance, and speed as it orbits the object.

Then there is the rocket mode, in which the current position serves as a starting point to start a vertical flight. Here a certain ascent speed of about 2 meters per second and a certain altitude is set. As soon as the drone has soared upwards and reached the height, the quadrocopter goes into automatic hovering flight.

Gimbal and the camera will automatically turn down.

In addition, there are some flight modes, such as Dronie mode, Return-To-Home and Follow-Me mode.

Due to the many modes and flight characteristics, we recommend that you read the manual in any case.
